Welcome to my Reading Room website. My name is Vanessa Lesniak and this is my second year here at Lincoln Middle School. This is my ninth year of teaching, and reading has always been my passion. I graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Language Arts. I continued to pursue my passion for reading and graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a Master's Degree in Literacy Education. Reading is a fundamental key to student success. Students amaze me everyday with how they interpret text. I love how every student brings a different piece of new information or ideas to our group discussions. I truly believe that the more students are exposed to reading the higher they will achieve.
The Reading Room
The Reading Room is designed for students to help improve their reading abilities through differentiated texts and research-based strategies. Throughout the day students are practicing their skills aligned with Common Core Standards where instruction is implemented through literature, informational texts, and other complex texts. Throughout the year our curriculum is divided into three trimesters and focuses on specific learning standards for each grade level.
